“Where The Wild Love Is”: A New Meditation App that Improves Users’ Mental Health Through Immersive Wildlife Experiences

Explore nature and yourself through immersive meditations, fresh visual art, and calming biodiverse soundscapes.

As our lives become increasingly digital, isolated, and urbanized, it’s more important than ever to reconnect with nature. Numerous studies have demonstrated that spending time in nature has numerous mental health benefits, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved mood, and increased cognitive function.

Inspired by growing public awareness about the connection between nature and mental health, entrepreneur Elena Goldberg designed and developed a groundbreaking wildlife meditation app called “Where The Wild Love Is” (WTWLI) to help users experience the healing power of nature through technology. Goldberg, who has a Master of Science in Business Administration, discovered the positive impact of nature on her own mental health and was motivated to share these benefits with others. The result is an innovative meditation app that blends natural history, immersive art, and biodiverse soundscapes to create a truly unique and transformative experience.

One of the app’s standout features is its ability to transport users on a meditative expedition through nature within wildlife ecosystems of their choosing. Users have the option of experiencing biodiverse sounds from multiple different species such as whales, eagles, elephants, mountain gorillas, and even the songs of extinct birds (in collaboration with Macaulay Library/Cornell Lab of Ornithology). The goal of these meditations is to calm users and help them fall asleep. The app also allows users to explore Earth’s biological history from its beginnings in Precambrian Time to the present Cenozoic Era.

Another remarkable feature of “Where The Wild Love Is” is its multi-sensory approach to meditation that offers users an immersive experience extending beyond mere audio. The wildlife meditation app incorporates rich visual art, dynamic colors, and natural patterns along with fluid animations to create a visually stimulating environment that enhances the user’s connection to nature. These captivating visuals, combined with rhythmic calming music and tones that sync with brain waves, provide a holistic meditation experience that appeals to multiple senses. This synergy of sight, sound, and mindfulness enables users to become fully absorbed in their meditative journey, amplifying the app’s positive impact on mental health and overall well-being.

As someone who enjoys meditation but rarely makes time for it, I was excited to experience the app firsthand. The first meditative expedition I embarked on was called “Whale Spots.” The session began with simple breathing instructions but soon enveloped me in gentle music accompanied by the mesmerizing sounds of whale clicks, whistles, and songs. I really felt as if I was a weightless being floating in the sea, and immediately experienced a sense of calm, centeredness, and connection to nature.

“Where The Wild Love Is” is an innovative and timely solution to the growing need for nature-based mental health support. Its ability to help users expand their consciousness and feel connected to the natural world makes it a valuable tool for anyone seeking to improve their well-being. As our society continues to grapple with increasing rates of stress and anxiety, Elena Goldberg’s app provides a much-needed respite from daily strife and serves as a reminder of the restorative power of nature.
